Going Back on Maintenance and Lighting Up the User Experience
A global manufacturer upgraded to JDE 9.2 and reignited innovation by returning to Oracle Maintenance
About the Customer
A design- and technology-centered, customer-driven company that creates and markets innovative, high-quality products for residential and commercial applications. Founded on a spirit of innovation that helped shape the modern lighting control industry, the company continues to advance smart, intuitive solutions that elevate everyday experiences around the world.
Challenges
- After going live on JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0, the company had been off Oracle maintenance for several years, leaving its systems vulnerable and difficult to sustain.
- An outdated and highly unstable infrastructure led to frequent, costly outages, while the existing Tools release was no longer supported.
- Without access to the latest upgrades, patches, and enhancements, the business struggled to keep pace with evolving operational demands.
- Limited internal resources compounded these issues, creating pressure on the applications team, which needed additional support and encouragement to develop and deploy critical fixes.
Solution
Circular Edge provided system tuning and hands-on support to help stabilize the environment and prepare the team for an IBM i upgrade. With a stronger foundation in place, the company resumed Oracle maintenance and relicensed its entire JD Edwards suite, enabling access to ongoing updates and innovation. The Tools upgrade to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2.3 marked a major milestone in modernizing their platform.
As part of this transformation, Circular Edge designed and implemented the company’s first Orchestration using AIS, while simultaneously training the internal team to build upon it. Since then, the company has successfully rewritten 12 interfaces as AIS/Orchestrations, significantly improving integration and efficiency. International JDE rollouts are now underway, supported by enhanced user functionality and automation across the business—including E1 Pages, Orchestrations, Café One, Notifications, and Chatbots.
