NetSuite’s release process is designed to be as seamless and hassle-free as possible. Over a three-month period, updates are rolled out to all NetSuite customers. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect:
Scheduled Updates
- Each customer gets assigned a specific date and time for their production account update.
- If you have a sandbox account, it typically gets updated 7 days after the production account.
Staying Informed
- Check out the new release portlet on your NetSuite dashboard to find the date and time of your update.
- You’ll also receive an email with all the details. If the assigned date and time doesn’t work for you, there is flexibility to reschedule using the customer scheduled maintenance page.

NetSuite Release Preview
Before your NetSuite account is updated, you’ll have the opportunity to try out the new capabilities in a release preview account. This temporary and isolated test account runs the new version of NetSuite software, allowing you to become familiar with the new features using your own data and customizations.
What Happens During the Update?
Account Offline Time
Your account will go offline during the update, which is scheduled for a 4-hour period outside of business hours. But don’t fret! Most updates are completed within 60 minutes, even for accounts with complex customizations.
Post-Update
- All customizations are automatically carried over.
- Once the update is done, your NetSuite admin will receive an email.
- You can get back to work right away with no disruption to your business.
